I was lucky enough to visit the gardens of Ray Phillips - the originator of Sidehill dahlias, and given unrooted cuttings of his varieties in October 2024. I managed to root several of them and kept them alive through the winter months to confirm their blooms. My first attempt to overwinter dahlias has succeeded and these varieties are now offered on my site in the hope to spread the Sidehill varieties far and wide. They are truly beautiful and are hidden gems in the dahlia world.
It’s hard to describe the color of Sidehill Fuzzy. The petals are dark pink with an electric purple center. The blooms look so good in the gardens and would stand out as focal in any arrangement too. It stands 5ft high and the blooms are heavy so it would need staking.
