I was lucky enough to visit the gardens of Ray Phillips - the originator of Sidehill dahlias, and given unrooted cuttings of his varieties in October 2024. I managed to root several of them and kept them alive through the winter months to confirm their blooms. My first attempt to overwinter dahlias has succeeded and these varieties are now offered on my site in the hope to spread the Sidehill varieties far and wide. They are truly beautiful and are hidden gems in the dahlia world.
Sidehill Trishie is named after Ray’s wife Patricia. She actually goes by Pat and the first time I was introduced to her I was so confused lol. I guess Trishie is a nickname Ray gave her?! In any case she’s his most known cultivar and for good reasons, the peachy soft yellow color is beautiful and goes so well with many color schemes. She’s great on both the show table and in arrangements.
